(with Captain Chuck, of course!)
Hello there, I'm David Sloan from On The Hook TV, a salt-water sport fishing show.
In my profession I have had the pleasure of meeting some outstanding fisherman. Some are normal guys, not professionals, just guys who love the sport of fishing and the great outdoors. Others who are professional charter boat captains specializing in all sorts of species from inshore game to far offshore canyon fishing. Some of the guys are even commercial fisherman, fishing for Cod, Haddock, Striped Bass, Tuna and even shellfish. So to say I've had experience with all types in this business is an understatement. I've fished with guys who are Great, Good, and well lets just say, some other guys who are better suited for a desk.
I'm writing this testimonial today on behalf of Chuck DiStefano, one of the Great ones.
Last year I was looking to do a show on Cod Fishing the Boston Harbor. Not just any Cod show since I've done them in the past. This time I was looking to get into the big ones! I was looking for Cod in the 30 to 50 range and hopefully even get a shot at something bigger. While searching around, networking with guys who are in the know, Chucks name came up over and over. After speaking with Chuck I knew I found my guy and we were off, to one of his many, but favorite location.
Chuck and I had very good fortune the day we went out as the weather cooperated with us completely, giving us the perfect day. He had told me that we would be fishing an area the size of a small coffee table and if you weren't right on them, then we weren't going to have much luck. But if we were, we'd hit'em hard!! Man, was he dead on with that statement. We fished for a few hours and pulled 30's and 40's over the side of the boat, one after another. Meanwhile, other boats swarmed like vultures when they saw how we were doing and to their amazement, did not have the same outcome as Chuck and I. Moral of the story: It's not the bait guys, it's not your jigging technique either, its in the Captain guys, hands down. Chuck's the man!
If you're thinking of heading out with a captain for a days fishing, do yourself a favor, head out with a Great One. If you're reading this, then you've already heard of Chuck Distefano and the Skip-a-Dory and your half way there to a great day of fishing.
Thanks to Chuck for an outstanding day of fishing, my best Cod day ever!
